70,000 years ago, the world of magic was rich and bountiful. It was a gift given by the gods, a treasure which bestowed life and creation.
But like many things, it was abused. Humanity had taken the very power that was given to them to help preserve and maintain balance and order, and used it as a force of discord. Humans used the powers of the magics to commit actions of unspeakable sins. Wars were sparked and spread like a wildfre across the lands. Pollution tainted the waters and four winds. Disease and famine became a constant sight.
These wars were known as "The Arcana Wars."
The wars lived on for centuries until one day, the very power given to them, the power of magic brought their end. From the grounds in which blood was spilled, an entity came and rose a kingdom of it's own. The entity was the one who gave humans the arts of yore. The god of sorcery, Zalam ended the wars which plauged the planet. He became the one sole ruler of Earth and commanded all that which thrived on the four corners of the world. His dynasty lasted for eons, which all things living were under his control.
Like all empires, his legacy came to an end as he grew tired of seeing the dark nature of those below him. As his reign closed it's chapter in history, he left the world's eyes and with it took the blessing he gave. However, he knew he could not leave the world completely devoid of sorcery. Instead, he granted a rare few to be able to harness the powers of magic.
